Alex Bissonnette
DLC Tutor
My name is Alex and I’m majoring in Japanese literature at the University of Washington. I’ve been studying Japanese since my freshman year of high school and just came back from my 4th trip to Japan as a Government Scholar. My hobbies include tennis, badminton, ping-pong, racquetball, painting/drawing, writing and performing poetry, and jazz piano. Most importantly, I think traveling is the best way to learn new cultures and can help us become better people. I’ve traveled to all the continents except Africa and Europe, which I hope to visit someday too. I look forward to being in contact with as many as students as I can about science, Japanese, writing, and other subjects.

A little about myself: I recently graduated from the University of Washington with degrees in English and comparative literature and a minor in international studies. I worked for a photographer in college and now I'm in Paris, France, teaching English at two French middle schools. I'm still online every day though, so being in France will not affect my availability! I adore the arts and am a huge movie lover, so feel free to ask questions about titles, recommendations, etc. Let me know if you have any questions!
Josh Levine
DLC Tutor
My name is Josh Levine and this is my second year tutoring Spanish, economics, business, and math. I'm from Mercer Island, WA, and I've lived in Seattle these past few years to study at the UW. I just graduated with a degree in geography and urban studies, and I studied a lot of Spanish too! I've lived in Spain and Israel, and I love to be outside. I look forward to working with another great group of students from all over Washington this school year!
Desiree Olson
DLC Tutor
Ciao! I’m Désirée and I’m completing my studies at the University of Washington this year. I’m a French major and music minor and recently studied abroad in Paris. I also teach French for home schooling programs and after-school activity clubs on Whidbey Island. My passion is for French and European culture- language, history, art, architecture, you name it!- and for music of all sorts. I play clarinet and piano in different genres, but am interested in the technical side of music too, such as theory and physics. In the future, I plan to work in France and to go to graduate school for studies in translation and interpretation. I look forward to hearing from you!
