What College Students Eat - Ramen

In my experience, college students don’t eat healthy, actually not healthy at all. This is mostly because a lot of the students are away from their parents who used to cook for them. Also a lot of the students live in the dorms, where there is only one kitchen for 100 students (speaking of UW dorms, not too sure about other schools). So what do UW students eat?? A lot of them eat out and some cook, but I would say most of the students eat the following food quite often (and some students live off these): pizza, easy mac and ramen.
I’m pretty sure most of you know pizza and easy mac, but some may wonder what ramen is. Ramen is a Japanese noodle dish and it is usually referred to as an instant noodles in the US. Some people call it instant noodles or top ramen.
Today, I would like to share my cooking techniques for yummy ramen.
Things you need:
- 1 bag of ramen (my favorite flavors are soy sauce [shoyu] and miso)
- 1 egg
- Spam (or thin slices of pork or beef)
1. Fill up the bowl you are going to use with water up to near the edge.
2. Pour the water into the pot
3. Slice the meat of your choice into thin slices and put it into the pot
4. Wait until the water boils
5. Put the ramen in and stir it 'till it's soft
6. Add the flavor and stir
7. Crack the egg and drop it into the pot. Make sure to drop it onto the ramen so it doesn’t stick to the pot (it is a pain in the neck to clean off the egg if it gets stuck to the pot)
8. Wait until the egg is cooked
9. And you are done!!!
It’s quick, easy and yummy! Please try cooking some ramen when you have to cook your own meal.
