Podcasting

Lately I’ve noticed there’s a new term that’s been popping up all over the place, “podcasting.” If you’re anything like me, at some point you’ve probably asked yourself, “what is podcasting?”

Essentially, podcasting is a manner of distributing multimedia files over the internet. You can subscribe to a podcast and the files are automatically downloaded onto your computer. These files can then be put onto your iPod or a similar device. The initial charm of this was that it allowed people to distribute their own radio shows. However, it has expanded into many other realms of utility and it is expected to continue to do so. Podcasting has been and will be extremely useful in distributing things like school lessons and lectures, audio tours of museums, and conference meeting alerts.
