Romulus and Remus more than myth?

The story goes that Rome was founded in 753 BCE by the twins Romulus and Remus, sons of the god Mars, raised by a she-wolf. After some prophesying, augury-ing, and birds flying around, Romulus decided he should be king, killed his brother, and became the first ruler of Rome. Hence the name "Rome" and not "Reme," I suppose.
A few months ago, archaeologists discovered the remains of a palace in the Roman Forum that could prove - wolves and birds aside - that at least the legendary time period of Rome's founding had a basis in fact. Why it took this long to find an enormous palace of previously unknown dimensions smack in the middle of the Roman Forum, I don't know. But the palace was 10 times the size of a normal home, so apparently it belonged to some really important people. Maybe Romulus and Remus?
