Privacy Policy for the DLC Website

All information collected on the DLC website is used to fulfill the DLC's mission of improving access to educational opportunities and learning resources by providing high quality educational materials, online courses, and technology tools to all students and teachers in Washington State.

The DLC will not sell or otherwise share personal information collected on the DLC site to third parties that are not DLC course, content, or tool providers or DLC partners.

The Digital Learning Commons collects some personal information in order to provide students, educators, and parents access to DLC resources. The following sections detail the information collected and used on the DLC website.

Online Courses

When schools register students for online courses through the DLC, the DLC collects information--including contact information such as phone numbers, mailing addresses, and email addresses--about the student, the student's parents, and the school staff member ("Teacher/Mentor") working with the student. This information is shared only with the course provider offering the specific course for the purposes of registering the student for the course.

Catalyst / UWNetID Accounts

When a student or educator signs up for a Catalyst/UWNetID account, the DLC website collects the user's name, birthdate, and email address. This information is used to identify the user should he or she need to reset a password.

DLC Team Information

Each school participating in the DLC identifies a group of staff members to work with the DLC. When applying to join the DLC, schools provide the names and contact information for each staff member who will be working with the DLC. The information is used to communicate DLC information to staff members in the schools. The DLC may share this information with providers, as needed. For example, the library resource providers may need to know information about the school librarian in order to set up access to the resource for the school.

Website Usage Information

The DLC collects information about website usage and the resources users access from the DLC website. No personally identifiable information is collected. This information is used in aggregate to help the DLC evaluate the effectiveness of the program and resources. We may share this information, which does not identify users personally, with third-party partners and providers.

Other Forms

The DLC website may contain other forms where users are asked for information. The DLC will not sell or otherwise share personal information collected on the DLC site to third parties that are not DLC course, content, or tool providers or DLC partners. For example, educators registering for teaching tools such as the Math ClassTools will be asked to provide their name and contact information in order to register to use the tools. This information will be shared with the content provider offering the course.

Please contact the DLC at dlcinfo@learningcommons.org if you have any questions about the DLC Privacy Policy.
